With all the new interviews and Immortals features we’ve been getting, I thought it was time to update some of our content pages. And so I have updated the Trivia and Quotes pages, as well as our Filmography page for Immortals and Isabel’s other recent movies – The Wedding Party, Red Dawn, and The Loft. I’ll add pages for Knight of Cups and Isabel’s other rumoured upcoming films when they’re officially confirmed. Charity, Style and some fun new media and games are coming next
Actors Josh Lawson and Isabel Lucas have been named Best Hollywood Newcomers at the Beverly Hills Film, TV and New Media Festival for their roles in an Australian film which is yet to get distribution two years after being made.
Despite gaining recognition at a number of festivals, it now looks like The Wedding Party will not get a release this year.
Directed by Amanda Jane and produced by Nicole Minchin, the romantic comedy opened MIFF last year.
In late May, Minchin told Encore: “We are looking forward to a local release in the second half of this year with an announcement in the coming weeks.”
However, she today told Encore: “The thing is, we haven’t struggled to get distribution, it’s about finding the best distribution plan. It’s an audience film, as our MIFF win shows, so it’s only spurred us on to make sure it gets seen in cinemas.”
“We’re planning on releasing it early next year. I can’t say who’s distributing it. We’re currently finalising the distribution agreement.”
Originally specialty distributor Arkles Entertainment was due to distribute the film locally but Minchin said the two parties came to an agreement that Arkles wouldn’t distribute the film.

When I logged onto Twitter earlier I had a lovely surprise seeing the The Wedding Party twitter profile updated, and upon further viewing I discovered they had lots of new The Wedding Party content for us!
A new poster for the film has been released, and it’s very colourful and features a very pretty Isabel at the forefront. The official website has been redesigned and fully opened, and it contains some great cast and character information, plus an absolute TON of new stills and photos for the movie! This includes lots of fantastic new shots of Isabel as Ana. It’s a real treat browsing through them all, and I can tell just by looking at them that the film is going to be hilarious.

I’ve added the new poster, Isabel stills and behind the scenes photos to our Gallery for your easy browsing, but make sure you drop on by the official website as well to see all the new content there.
And remember, Isabel alongside TWP co-star Josh Lawson will be honoured at the Beverly Hills Film & TV Festival tonight as Best Hollywood Newcomers! I don’t know whether Isabel will be attending – I hope she will – but either way, we will be bringing you as much coverage as we can put together right here tomorrow, so please check back then.

Hello again Izzy fans! I hope you are all having a great day. I just remembered I had some photos sitting on my computer sent in by someone for us, so I thought I’d post them now.
Someone who wishes to remain anonymous emailed me a while ago and sent me some exclusive photos they had taken on the set of The Wedding Party. We already had one in our Gallery (which was apparently leaked from Facebook, but Anonymous kindly allowed us to keep using), and Anonymous has sent us another fantastic snap of Izzy posing with Jade Lyons, who was an extra in the film. Anonymous also shared a few other snaps from the set that don’t feature Izzy, and I have uploaded them below for you. In them you can see some of the other cast and crew posing for Anonymous, and preparing for various scenes. The photos are a great look behind the scenes!
Big thanks again go to Anonymous for generously emailing us and sharing their photos with us at Isabel Lucas Online! We really appreciate this.

We have some news on The Wedding Party … I was browsing the film’s Facebook page, and noticed the official team behind the page responded to someone’s question about when the film might be getting a release on Australia screens. They say that “The film will be released on Australian Screens in AUTUMN 2012. Stay tuned for details.” At first I was a little surprised at the huge wait, then I realised that obviously Autumn is at a different time in the Southern Hemisphere to what it is here in the Northern Hemisphere! Therefore, it sounds as if the film will be getting a release in Australian cinemas sometime around March/April/May next year.
In other The Wedding Party news, a couple of months ago we brought you the news that Isabel was nominated for Best Actress at the New York City International Film Festival for her role in the movie. Unfortunately she did not win, with the award instead going to either Anna Rot for ‘Day and Night’ or Berrak Tüzünataç for ‘A Handful Of Sea’ (I can’t work out who won from the official site!). However, it’s still a great recognition for Isabel! The Wedding Party did scoop up awards for Best Director (Comedy), Best Supporting Actress, Best Feature Film and Best Lead Actor, so congratulations to the cast and crew for them!
We’re still in a drought of anything new in Isabel world (except the Loft picture – see below!), but some very exciting news HAS just popped up! This is the 2nd annual NYCIFF, and it is “proud to screen 300 movies from 48 Countries”. The festival’s opening night gala takes place at The Hudson Theatre in New York City on August 18th, and runs until August 24th.
No word on whether Isabel will be attending, but let’s hope so. Check back here for any updates on this, and of course the result of the awards.
Congratulations once again, Isabel and the The Wedding Party cast & crew!
The Wedding Party producer, Nicole Minchin, says a re-cut version of the film has received a positive response from potential buyers at the Cannes International Film Festival.
The film, which had its premiere at last year’s Melbourne International Film Festival, is now running about 20 minutes shorter than the original version after advice from editor Jill Bilcock.
The Wedding Party director, Amanda Jane, said Bilcock’s expertise and advice added much to the film. “It is the same film, it just has a dynamic new pace,” she said in a statement.
Minchin said the team is excited to be working with Arclight and “are thrilled with the response to the Cannes screening”.
The film stars Josh Lawson as Steve Thompson, who, in a bid to save himself from financial ruin, agrees to marry Ana (Isabel Lucas), a Russian woman seeking residency in exchange for a huge sum of cash.
The film has also picked up several recent awards including Best Film, Best Direction, Best Screenplay and Best Ensemble at the 2011 Los Angeles Comedy Festival. It also won Best Film at the 2011 Los Angeles Movie Awards and Best Actor (Josh Lawson), Best Screenplay and Best Production Design.
The Wedding Party will also be screening at the 2011 Waterfront Film Festival in Michigan in June and at the 2011 Manhattan Film Festival in New York in July ahead of an Australian release.

As posted about a few days ago, The Wedding Party screened at the Dungog Film Festival in Australia this week. Below is a bit more information on what happened during the festival, including a brief mention of The Wedding Party, and a quote from it’s director:
Hunter tribute closes Dungog festival
Dungog Film Festival organisers had no idea when they chose their closing night film that it would end up being a tribute to the late actor Bill Hunter.
The festival closing night gala included a screening of one of Hunter’s last films, The Wedding Party, starring Isabel Lucas and Steve Bisley.
Hunter, who was best known for his roles in Australian classics like Muriel’s Wedding and Strictly Ballroom, passed away on May 21 from cancer.
The Wedding Party director Amanda Jane said having Hunter act in her debut feature was one of the best things about the making of the film.
“I just wanted to say that the experience for me to have him come in and just do a small role in the film was one of the most amazing things in my career,” she said before the screening in Dungog on Sunday night.
“I’m just sending out my best love to him and his family.”

This year the Dungog Film Festival is set to screen 12 features, 16 documentaries, four TV sneak previews and 159 short films.
The world’s biggest festival of Australian films will also feature 10 world premiere features and documentaries in its line-up from May 26-29.
Williamson said he was looking forward to seeing films like Oranges and Sunshine which stars Emily Watson, Hugo Weaving and David Wenham.
Oranges and Sunshine is part of the festival’s opening night celebrations on Thursday while The Wedding Party director’s cut with Isabel Lucas will screen at the closing night gala on Sunday.
